A Special Screening with Imran Khan

Here’s a nice bit of news for Imran Khan fans.

Dharma Productions, which has just released Imran’s film I Hate Luv Stories, has got in touch with GB with the offer to arrange a special screening for the gay community with the chance to meet Imran.

Date: Thursday July 15th

Time: 6 pm

Venue: a preview theatre in Bandra

With: Imran!

Huh, what, how? : Read on

To be honest, we were a bit surprised when we got the call. We had done this earlier with Dharma for Dostana, but the film had a gay angle so it made sense for them to get views from the gay community. This film has no gay angle, so the only reason for them to do this seemed to be just general community outreach, building up some good feelings for the film and helping Imran connect with his gay fans.

If it’s the latter, then the fans certainly do exist – and will probably increase after a look at the latest Filmfare cover where he’s flashing his six pack!

Imran has always been supportive on gay issues, for example, in last year’s Filmfare issue on homosexuality in Bollywood where he said he’d have no problems in playing a gay character (compared to others like Neil Mukesh who said he wouldn’t). And its pretty cool for him to want to do this – its one thing to say you’re gay friendly, but not want to actually prove it (or worse, to want to do it just because you’re desperate for any publicity). But this is a hot, in every sense, young Bollywood star, on the cover of Filmfare this week, and he’s still keen to do this.

Kudos to Imran for that, and GB is happy to help facilitate this.

There’s one catch – space is very limited. We’ll have space for about 20-25 people, so this is going to be on a first to write in basis. If you’d like to come mail Vikram at vgd67@yahoo.co.uk, ideally with a phone number.

The first 25 mails will get to the event – but please, mail only if you’re sure you can make it. We’ll try to have a reserve list, but its difficult to work things out at the last minute, so don’t say you’ll come, then drop out and deprive someone of a seat.

As with the Dostana screening there might be a few media people and we’ll handle it as we did with Dostana. There will be a few people there who are OK talking to the media or to camera and they’ll speak to the media and that should take care of it. So its not like coming to the event means that you’ll be outed (but you shouldn’t freak out because there are journalists in the general vicinity).

So maybe you’ve seen the film and wouldn’t mind seeing it again, maybe you haven’t seen it yet and this is your chance, maybe you hate love stories or maybe you don’t, or maybe you don’t care either way but wouldn’t mind meeting such a cute, friendly Bollywood star…. THIS Thursday, 15th July, at a preview theatre in Bandra at 6 pm.

Mail Vikram now at vgd67@yahoo.co.uk
