There’s something GB has been wanting to do for some time and now in the run up to the meeting on Living with HIV its just taken shape. It’s a separate forum for gay guys from Bombay who are positive. (We thought of starting it as a list like GB, but really all the today is on forums and perhaps we should take up that idea of migrating GB to a forum now).

GB has created this forum to provide friendship, support and a platform for all people linked to the Gaybombay community who are HIV +ve or interested in issues relating to them, and its good to have you onboard.
GB has started this forum for two simple reasons.
First, we know how the numbers of people testing postive in the community – or those willing to admit it – has been increasing.
And second, we know how isolating and scary it is. Suddenly you are plunged into unfamiliar territory: you’re not just gay, but positive, and where for the first you know you can get support from the gay scene, for the second you’re not.
Suppose people come to know? Will people reject you? Is there anyone you can trust? Don’t you need information? But if you ask then would people suspect? You’re lonely and you need help, but who can you turn to?
This forum is an attempt to help. It is not going to put you in touch with some powerful magic person who can solve all your problems, but in touch with something that is quieter but yet also powerful and perhaps the only real solution: yourselves. The forum will help you engage with others just like you, and combining our forces, sharing our experiences, giving advice and providing information, is our best hope for finding our solutions.
GB exists as a webpage and a mailing list, but this is our first forum, and if you’re not familiar with forums just take a little time to tour the site. Forums are like mailing lists, with with better archiving and access to topics. You will be able to see how the topics are sorted into broad categories and how the most recent discussion threads in these categories are up for viewing and for adding on your own views to.
But this means that for the forums to be succesful, you have to interact and add on your views. It needs interaction from your end to build up threads and create all the resources of information and archives of views and personal experiences that we hope this forum will eventually have.
If we keep doing this over time we will have substantial amounts of material that will be of real help to the increasing numbers of positive people coming into the community. You know how isolating and unfamiliar things are now. To prevent it being so in the future, we need to work together to build this forum.
But enough talking! Click on the URL and you’ll be in the forum, register, and once the moderators have validated your add request, you will be able to read all the topics and the discussion threads listed.
