Gaybombay in association with Point of View, the Mumbai based
NGO dealing with issues of gender and sexuality brings you a top Malaysian
drag troupe - PRIMA DONA - MALAYSIAN DIVAS
Prima Dona, a dance troupe from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia,
focuses primarily on issues dealing with gender, sexuality and art in Asia.
Prima Dona is composed of transgender/transsexual individuals who believe
that every human being should be respected and allowed to live a life of his
or her own choosing - regardless of gender, sexuality, sexual appearance or
orientation.
Prima Dona members come from various backgrounds, including
performance artists, people living with HIV/AIDS, sex workers, HIV/AIDS
consultants, and peer educators. Its one hour mixed-media performance raises
fundamental issues of gender and sexuality: Who is a man? Who is a woman?
Are gender and sexuality determined by biology and by society? Who decides
one's gender and sexuality?
Through music, dance and movement, Prima Dona pushes viewers to
redefine gender outside the traditional boxes of male and female.

From South Bombay - If you are coming
from the Haji Ali side, at Worli
Naka go STRAIGHT on to G.S. Bhosale Marg This will take you
towards the BDD chawls and further down is the Mahindra Towers.
(DON'T go
LEFT
on the Anne Besant Road towards Poddar Hospital). Once
you are on this road you will come on to a busy congested market
area. You will come to a tiny Masjid. Take a RIGHT here. You will come to Shaman
Automobiles - Fiat Garage. Turn in. This is the entry gate # 5 of Sriram Mills for
MIKANOS.
From North Bombay - If you are coming from the suburbs down
Anne Besant Road - go past the Passport Office and turn LEFT after Glaxo towards Doordarshan. Take the 2nd turn to the
RIGHT on to G.M.
Bhosale Marg. Go past the Mahindra Towers towards Worli Naka. Just
before you hit the Naka you will come to a Masjid on your LEFT. Turn LEFT
here.
You will see
Shaman Automobiles.
This is the entry gate of Sriram Mills for MIKANOS.
Lower Parel
is the closest Western Railway Station. You can cab it up from here
or take one of the many buses - #44, #50, #166.
Get off at the Sriram Mills Stop.
You can also take a cab from Mahalaxmi Station.
