A HOME AT THE END OF THE WORLD - Directed by Michael Mayer / 1 hr 33 min / 2004 / English

CAST : Colin Farrell, Robin Wright Penn, Dallas Roberts

SYNOPSIS
Bobby and Jonathan are inseparable as teenagers in suburban Ohio. Bobby has suffered many losses for someone so young, and is starved for love and affection. Awkward teen Jonathan has a nice family, and a particularly wonderful mother (Sissy Spacek). The boys not only become as close as brothers, but they also experiment sexually. The two lose touch, but find each other again in their mid-20s in the early 1980s, when Bobby (Colin Farrell) moves to New York and joins Jonathan (Dallas Roberts) at the apartment he shares with Clare (Robin Wright Penn), an aging hippie. Bobby and Clare become lovers, however, Clare had planned to have a child with Jonathan, who is now openly gay and who is still interested in Bobby, and to whom Clare used to be attracted. The trio becomes its own unique entity, questioning the traditional definitions of family and love, and dealing with the complications of their love triangle. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Michael Cunningham, who also wrote the screenplay and who was the recipient of the Pulitzer prize.

PIKU IS FINE - directed by Tirthankar Guha Thakurta / 40 min / Bengali with EST

A touching story of a young man, who infatuated by his best friend at  college, decides to come out to him. But  he is in for a rude shock. He finds himself ridiculed, humiliated and even sexual molested by his "friends".
But he finally manages to put the traumatic experience behind him and move on in life.

The film is apparently inspired by a real life incident. Shot on MiniDV, the film may seem a bit amateurish but it is straight from the heart and surely touches a chord.

Please note - due to time constraints, the film "Boyfriends" is being screened, instead of the Japanese film "Okoge", as originally announced. Inconvenience caused is regretted.

PLEASE BEAR WITH US
To have people walking in and out during screenings is a big nuisance.
Though guys coming slightly late can be condoned, the bane of the festivals is the constant traffic  of guys running in and out to answer cell phones, quite unconcerned with the disturbance they are causing.

We request people to PLEASE SWITCH OFF their CELL phones during the screenings. Anyone who walks out during the screening will not be allowed inside, until the next break. Doors will be locked once the film begins.

NOTE :

  1. The films are excellent original copies on DVD & VHS.

  2. The films are NOT pornographic. Only good, clean gay films.

  3. GB as a support group, has created this comfort space/event for gays, many of whom may be "newbies" (those still coming to terms with their sexuality and who have mustered courage to come for such a meeting for the first time). So we request you to be sensitive to the comfort levels of others attending this event and behave and dress accordingly.
