WILDE

"Triumphant"
-Kevin Thomas, The Los Angeles Times

"A Towering Achievement"
-Rex Reed, The New York Observer

Notorious poet and playwright Oscar Wilde (Stephen Fry) devours all that  life has to offer, but there's only so much that late Victorian England will tolerate. As Wilde Delves into a taboo world of unrealized sexual desires, his rapidly becomes a turbulent charade. Falling under the spell of dashing young Oxford student Bosie Douglas (Jude Law), Wilde cannot escape the inevitable repercussions wrought by a "pure" society ... nor will bhe hide in shame for being true to his nature.

Based on the best-selling biography by Richard Ellman, this unconventional biopic traces the brilliant, witty, and tragic life of Oscar Wilde from his rise to fame as a much-in-demand author and public speaker to his downfall and ultimate imprisonment for homosexuality.

"The film depicts the shadow side of yearning. When stoked by pride, it can lead to a headlong plunge into self-destruction."
